Rafael Nadal beaten by Mardy Fish

Rafael Nadal has been beaten for the first time by United States player, Mardy Fish. It happened in the quarter final of the Masters 1000 in Cincinnati and is further evidence that the Spaniard is far away from his best form. The result as 6-3,6-4 in an hour and 40 minutes.

Trainer, uncle Toni Nadal said ‘We can’t get any worse’, and said that Rafa had played ‘really badly and deserved to lose’. He said that one of the reasons for the defeat was that Rafa was not arriving at the ball.

Nadal is going straight to New York to prepare for the US Open at Flushing Meadows, which starts on August 29.
